Hospital Scribbling

For a period of 2 weeks, due to the severity of my internal injuries, I was intubated, heavily medicated, in a great deal of pain, completely confused about all that was happening around me and TO me, yet not being able to speak.

As I drifted in and out of consciousness, I attempted to communicate with my loved ones by desperately trying to write down what I wanted to say.  I thought I was writing in a clear and concise manner as I have always written...but I was thoroughly shocked later on to discover just what I was actually writing/scribbling:

Hospital Transfer - FROM: New York Hospital Medical Center of Queens; TO: New York Presbyterian Hospital Weill Cornell Medical Center

After receiving emergency surgery in New York Hospital, it would be 5 more days before I was stable enough for them to transfer me back to New York Presbyterian Hospital so that my original surgeon could take over my case and continue my care. I have remained unconscious since late night of April 17th, I was unconscious during the transfer, and I remained unconscious for a few more weeks after arriving at NYP.

Hello, 14 North!

My room in the hospital this time is located in Greenberg 14 North, the GI Recovery Unit. I'm now on the 14th floor (top floor) of NY Presbyterian, in a newly-built unit of single-patient rooms. Everything is brand new, super high ceilings, large LCD TV, mini-fridge, private bathroom with shower, and a huge window looking out at the East River.
